There
is a wireless access fee of $0.12 per item.
Now
it is possible to processes swiped credit card transactions
using a cell phone and a "Swipe Machine". The Nextel
Java enabled phones are able to operate credit card transaction
software. These phones connect, via a data cable, to a small
printer that is equipped with a magnetic card reader. There
are several models of these "Swipe Machines" available,
the Side Swipe, PP-50
MS, Mobile Pro and the Zebra
Cameo. Follow the links for equipment specifications.
The compatible Nextel models are: i50sx,
i55sr, i58sr, i85s, i88s, i90c, i95cl i99cl, i710 1730,i733,
i736, and i830. By
subscribing to the Nextel "Total Connect" plan the
merchant is able to send credit card transactions using the
Java program on the Nextel phone. With the swipe machine the
merchant can swipe bank cards and generate a printed receipt.
